WHO AM I AND WHAT IS LANDIS MOVEMENT SYSTEMS ALL ABOUT?

My name is Josh Landis, and by trade I am a personal trainer, manual therapist, and I am forever a student of human movement. I have a strong passion for helping people discover their full potential to live healthier and happier lives, and I believe that movement plays a very vital role in that endeavor. I believe that disciplined practice and exploration of movement not only aides in physical transformation, but more importantly, it aides in the process of self-discovery and personal growth. It can help us to be honest with ourselves and realize what really matters to us in life. It can push us to our physical and mental limits, and force us to face our fears and weaknesses. It allows us to build the resiliency and strength to go out into the world and enjoy it to the fullest extent. And that is why I am so passionate about movement; it's part of who I am at my core. Living a movement-rich, active, playful lifestyle allows me to live in sync with my core values:

  • Integrity - Purposeful pursuit of discovering, embracing, and loving your true self.

  • Progression - Constantly pushing to grow and improve physically, mentally, emotionally, intellectually. Be your best self.

  • Fun - Never stop having fun. Don't just exist. Live. Explore. Play. Be Happy.

I created Landis Movement Systems in order to create and serve a like-minded community; a community open to anyone who wants to improve their movement capacity and overall ability to stay healthy and perform at a high level. I've dedicated my life to mastering my understanding of human movement. The integrated nature of us as humans is fascinating, and having a great understanding of this has huge implications in the world of health and performance. Combining different philosophies and disciplines from the worlds of biomechanics, functional anatomy, neurology, and pain science helps to paint a more complete picture in the process of healing and building strength and resiliency. Landis Movement Systems perpetuates these values through providing:

  • Education - I want to provide accurate, science-based, effective, and practical information in order to help educate colleagues, clients, and followers. Through my own pursuits to further my understanding of human movement, I want to share my insights. I want to provide well-resourced guidance to simple, effective, science-based training and self-care.
  • Community - It can be surprisingly difficult to find a place where you feel like you really connect with others. Part of what makes any of us truly successful is to be a part of a community that we love, trust, and want to contribute to. This is what makes us so strong as a human race. We need to embrace, uplift, and support each other to be our strongest selves.
  • Professional Services - I'm in the trenches everyday applying, testing, tweaking, and fine-tuning my theories and techniques in order to provide to best training and therapy services possible. My system of training is constantly evolving as I continue to gain new insights. However, I try to never deviate too far from tried and true methodologies. Simple and effective is the goal.

By reflecting on what strength training has given me personally in my life, I discovered my passion: to help others in their pursuit of a good life, using my expertise on human movement as my vehicle for doing so. With a good depth and breadth of knowledge and experience, I want to be an invaluable part of your health and wellness team. Join me on my quest to improve the health and fitness industry, and to optimize our movement!

I've got amazing clients and I truly cherish every person I get to work with. Here's what some of them think about me. I guess I'm kind of awesome?!

Josh has the versatility to program for superior athletes as well as clients brand new to working out. He has a keen eye that can see imbalances and implement strategies to help you overcome injury and weakness. Josh has helped me strengthen every joint in my body and added much needed muscle mass that has catapulted my endurance, stamina and body resilience.
— Jill Miller, author of The Roll Model, Creator of Yoga Tune Up
As a late 40-something new dad, entrepreneur, and desk-sitter, I needed a structural overhaul to deal with the rigors that fatherhood was about to place on my body. Josh’s meticulous attention to biomechanics and innate ability to build programs that address your body’s specific needs is rarely found in the world of Personal Training. He’s able to communicate his proprioceptive sense so that it translates to your own correct postural alignment while helping you to not just understand, but feel, what specific muscle groups should (and shouldn’t) be engaged during a particular exercise. His programs are functional fitness at its best, and I am stronger and more structurally sound than I was when only doing traditional weight training and running marathons. Working with him has truly been a game changer.
— Robert Faust
Josh has been my trainer for over a year now. He is not only an amazing trainer and extremely knowledgeable, but he is also He’s extremely attentive and never judgmental. He knows exactly how to care for you at your weakest moments, and work with your energy on your positive days. He knows exactly how motivate you and boost your energy even when you’re not feeling it that day. I look forward to my training sessions with him every time, and he makes it a great session no matter what!!!

I admire him for the constant hunger he has for knowledge, and how he is constantly educating himself with many different aspect and bringing that to his clients. His ability to use PDTR is a big advantage when I have aches and pains and it works like magic!!! It allows me be free of pain and focus my attention and energy on our training!

He is truly a blessing in my life and has contributed so much to my mind and body health (not to mention my great figure that I get lots of compliments on!). His support is a great part of my life.
— Sheri Rabeie
I have worked with Josh for over three years. With patience and skill, Josh has helped resolve many lingering issues resulting from my history of playing rugby for 18 years leading to various injuries and surgeries, followed by a corporate life behind a desk or on the road. During my time with Josh, he has impressed me with his commitment to continuing his education in his chosen field, adding new tools and techniques to better address the needs and problems of his clients. I would whole-heartedly recommend Josh as a personal trainer and movement therapist.
— John Winterman
Best trainer I’ve ever worked with. Great energy and positivity. Knows an incredible amount about proper form and body mechanics. On top of that, he can do corrective bodywork (P-DTR) on the spot. Working with him is the best thing I’ve done to alleviate my lower back pain
— Babak Nivi
Josh is an extraordinary personal trainer. I have been working with him for a few years now. Without a doubt, he is the most educated, caring and devoted trainer you will ever meet. He is smart, patient and really knows what he is doing. He is also a truly nice person and a pleasure to spend time with.

As a result of a long list of injuries, I need to keep my body strong so that I don’t live in chronic pain. My experience with personal training in the past is that periodically I would get injured. Frequently, exercising and working out with weights would be followed by severe pain in my neck and back. No matter how careful I was and how much I needed to work out, I often had to take breaks because of the flare-ups my body was experiencing. This always led to setbacks with my fitness training.

Josh has worked tirelessly to educate himself so he understands the body and how it works. His expertise and commitment to his clients guides him as he uses a number of unique techniques to address any pain I am experiencing when we first start our sessions. He helps me activate inhibited muscles and really gets my body ready for exercise. He breaks each exercise down into manageable steps so that I can do it without injuring myself…not an easy task with me.

What is amazing to me is how hard Josh works to continue revising and developing the perfect personal training program to help meet the training needs I have. I have worked with a number of trainers throughout my life and have never experienced anyone who understood how to help me the way Josh does.

Whatever your personal training goals are, Josh is qualified to help you reach them. If you are looking for an outstanding personal trainer with an unusually extensive range of expertise, look no further. He is the BEST!
— Dr. Tracey Davidson
I started working out with Josh around November 2014 per my neighbor’s suggestion. We focused on flexibility in movement and proper muscular coordination. Having struggled with training in the past due to collapsed arches in my feet, I was amazed how Josh’s instruction and guidance through barefoot exercises not only eliminated the constant aching in my feet, but I also have noticed a steady rebuilding of my arches, which is something orthotics were never able to accomplish. Josh has both an intuitive sense and vast scientific knowledge of how the human body is designed to move and function, and he uses his expertise with extreme care and precision for all of his clients. He’s a fun and invigorating person to be around, which really helped motivate me not only during our workouts, but also when on my own. I couldn’t imagine recommending anyone other than Josh for training, correcting movements of the body, or reducing chronic pain. 5 stars!
